Selena Gomez was born on July 22, 1992. Her acting career began in 2002, when she played Gianna on Barney, and she is still good friends with Demi Lovato, who played Angela on Barney at the time. Since then, she has had a few roles in movies such as Spy Kids 3D: Game Over, and Brain Zapped. She was first discovered by Disney in a nationwide casting call, and moved from Texas to California to become part of the Disney "family". She has guest-starred on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and Hannah Montana, two of Disney’s most popular shows.

She was also supposed to star in a Lizzie McGuire spinoff called What’s Stevie Thinking?, where she played Miranda Sanchez’s little sister, but the show was never aired. Her big break will come in October, though, when she stars as Alex Russo in Disney’s new series, Wizards of Waverly Place. Alexa Nikolas was originally offered the role of Alex, but in the end, it was given to Selena.

Selena also enjoys singing (she recorded a song for the movie Brainzapped) and cheerleading, but acting is her greatest passion. In fact, she has the same agent as teen superstar Miley Cyrus. With her talent and the support of her fans, Selena is well on her way to becoming one of the next big Disney Channel stars.

Out at Janes House - June 28, 2009

Taking some time out of her busy schedule for charity, Selena Gomez was spotted at the Raise Hope for the Congo shindig last night (June 28).

The “Wizards of Waverly Place” babe looked absolutely fabulous as she made her way around the arrivals area in a beautiful off-the-shoulder white dress with strappy beige heels. In related news, Miss Gomez (whose new film 'Princess Protection Program' hits DVD tomorrow) recently revealed her love of cooking. Selena shared, "I find cooking very therapeutic. I have zero time to ever do it, but once I have a house of my own, one day, I'll have time to do that. I'd love to go to culinary school."
